This is how we will look in a millennia xx P&V

We have always been told that we cannot bring our earthly possessions to the afterworld. Not true! The most fabulous ancient skeletons are discovered. Encrusted with precious stones dating from the Roman Catacombs of the eighteenth century, these lavishly decorated skeletons makes us want to invest in precious jewels more than ever. Found and photographed by historian Paul Koudounaris, these images will be featured in his new book, Heavenly Bodies: Cult Treasures and Spectacular Saints from the Catacombs.

Fake scene boosting hope

A struggling town bought itself new hope by painting fake scenes on its walls

A bakery, a bookmaker and a barber have recently appeared in a village in Northern Ireland. But you cannot enter any of them. In a bid to bring in tourists, the town of Bushmills, famous for the whiskey that was first distilled there 400 years ago, has painted over a dozen abandoned storefronts and houses.

There are windows and doors with people looking out, a bakery with an appetizing selection of bread and cakes, and a traditional cobbler, where a man in a flat cap can be seen mending shoes.

It’s not the first time Northern Ireland has tried this. A similar attempt to doll up villages in county Fermanagh so that visiting G8 leaders wouldn’t see how woeful the region looked drew anger and derision; “cosmetic surgery for serious wounds,” one local resident said. But in Bushmills, local residents raised their own funds to add to government money, and the project’s been a success, a local councillor told Reuters; two of the painted stores have already found new owners.

Virgin Branson cosplay wedding

Following Sir Richard Branson’s son Sam and Isabella Branson’s engagement party in South Africa as a gold lion and lioness, the happy couple has chosen the ‘Enchanted Forest’ theme for their wedding party. Prangsta, a costumier in London has dressed the golden list of guests like Prince Harry as a Ginger Fox, Princess Eugenie as a fairy, Sir Richard Branson as Robin Hood and Prangsta stalwart Rob da Bank as a bumblebee. No wonder Hello Magazine  declared on their front cover, the ‘Fancy Dress Party of the Year’!

Mobile Pâtisserie

Decoden comes from Japan, it’s a form of contemporary craftsmanship that’s focused on the decoration of technological devices. One of the possible embellishment themes of Decoden is pastry: sweet decorations turn mobile devices in faux-desserts. Realistic looking whipped cream, fruits, chocolate bars and cookies transform your mobile phone in a decadent piece of eye candy. With this candy you don’t need to worry about calories, however, if your mobile cake makes your mouth water, see it as the perfect moment to inhale some vapor candy. No need for chewing, just continue your phone conversation.
We bumped into Decoden while looking for visual elements for a new project we are currently working on with fashion designers MarryMe-JimmyPaul. We gave form to the catwalk of their upcoming show which will open the Amsterdam Fashion Week. Very soon we will upload the result!

Diplo got the first Pinar&Viola tattoo

Diplo got a tattoo designed by us. A K&L on his arm, showing his devotion to his son and the woman of his life. The font we used for it is actually the one we sign our work with. This is the first time we it for something else than our own signature.
He said he moved his arm too much, that’s why the white spots occurred in the design.

Gay and trans* children of conservative politicians

In 2009 during the premiere for the movie ‘Nine’ in New York, photos of Nicole Kidman appeared: “What’s all the powder in her face?”. Most photos show Kidman covered in white powder on her nose and under her eyes, the exact spots foundation is applied to. Other photos of the night seem to show a normal face however. HD make-up reflects light differently than regular make up, making it possible to apply less product while still retaining a concealing function, perfect functionality for HD production. The flash of the photo cameras did not comply with the HD make-up however. The make-up product applied did not adhere to the techno norms of Kidman’s situation. The make-up was applied outside of its context and malfunctioned, resulting in a transparent make-up strategy reveal.

MRRY XMAS, meet my desktop stripper

Merry Christmas everyone!
We have a solution for those who feel lonely in the holiday season, desktop strippers. We met them during our research for The Importance of being Sexy, the XXX website we designed, like a year ago. They were popping up in the right cover of your screen while browsing in adult sites. Yet, recently we ran into their larger-than-life versions that we could download and have them parade in between our photoshop layers.
