Pinar&Viola x Print All Over Me NYC Exhibition

As part of New York textile Month, we made a collaboration with the super fun Print All Over Me from New York! We gave them our Healing Prints and they made items where you can spread healing in your everyday life. Sweatshirts, tablecloths, tote bags, clutches, with our prints varying from Mother Earth to Sexual Healing, Emancipation of Flowers to Silent Print. Last week, June 24th marked the celebration of our collaboration. The New Yorker boutique, Coming Soon in Lower East side hosted our opening, where we set up a healing oasis! Our Healing Prints that you can order on POAM’s website, were presented alongside with 2 teepees and peace flags, cushions and curtains which created an ambiance of zen and tranquility. An aestheticised oasis in the midst of our metropolic hectic lives. Thank you everyone who were there to celebrate it with us. The exhibition is open for a week more.

The scenography of our exhibition was designed by Haddock Studio, and the VR Oasis in the installation is made  by James Orlando.

“Veganism isn’t a goal to attain. It’s the means by which we can attain our goals. Compassion is the goal. Veganism is a way to get there.” Colleen Patrick Goudreau

We designed a holographic catwalk

Our studio designed the world’s first holographic catwalk for a virtual fashion line, all showcased on a real model, during Amsterdam Fashion week in July 2016. With this technology, we mimicked what Google’s Magic Leap will make us experience in the upcoming years. As for the future of fashion, we believe that people buy, throw, and mistreat their clothing because we do not feel connected with the inanimate objects around us. That is the reason why, with this catwalk experience, we made people emphasise with their clothing the way they do with their friends, where we visualised the spirit of the clothing.

Through animism, we gave life to the fashion line of Amber Slooten by adding facial characteristics like mouths and eyes and interactions between the dress and the model. You can find more information about this project on our interview in The Creators Project, and watch the making off of the hologram here.

Silencio Pool Party

Last summer, around this time, Silencio, the renown Parisian night club, designed by David Lynch, opened their doors to a temporary summer house in the south of France. We have been asked to organise a pool party with our Scandal Aqua Collection towels, which were a highly aestheticised, open minded yet critical scenario for the future of political sex scandals. The party started with a champagne breakfast and lasted till very late at night with all the guests in the pool.

Who’s a fashion victim?

Are you sometimes wondering who made your clothes? The best one to ask this question to is the brand you wear.

More and more people are asking this question to brands via Instagram. This act of raising awareness to the true costs of the clothes we wear is an initiative of Fashionrevolution. They are a global movement that want to help to raise awareness about the (hidden reality) of the fashion industry and celebrate all those involved in creating a more sustainable future.

If you care about the human behind the fashion industry and you want to raise awareness for this you are invited to post a picture of your clothes’ tag and simply ask to @[brand] #whomademyclothes

Lady Zero Waste

Everyday we buy items, use products without thinking the trace it will leave behind. Just the fact that a plastic bottle disappears from our eye sight after 1 minute of usage, does absolutely not mean they are gone for good. In fact, plastic sticks around for between 450 – 1000 years. In less then a century hundreds of millions more tons of plastic are added to the ever-accumulating cauldron of plastic pollution in the world’s oceans, rivers and landscapes. Plastic is causing a huge environmental problem. Can we put an end to this???

Change is possible. Some visionary people are dedicated to take on a plastic-free lifestyle. One leading figure in that movement is the amazing Lauren Singer. She lives a waste free life in New York and spreads her wisdom by documenting her zero waste journey through her blog called Trash is for tossers. Lauren defines Zero Waste as “not to produce any garbage, no sending anything to landfill, no throwing anything in a trash can”. She does recycle and does compost stuff and all other trash (non-disposable, unrecyclable) she produced for 3 years was the size of a small jar!

The highlight of Lauren’s blog is the ultimate list of zero waste alternatives for everyday items, making life easier for the ones who wish to live a waste free life. She even has recipes for things like toothpaste and cleaning products.

On her blog you can learn many other ways how to reduce your trash. You can also check out her TedTalk here and this is her Instagram. Here you can find some more people that kicked plastic out of their life.

Fab Muslim Yogini

Meet Marisa Paryasto, yogini/programmer and ownder of the Instramgram account CryptocodeCG. These are the words she used to introduce herself on her Instagram:

Yhea.. What to add to that?? Ok… just some background information of some fabulous things she does:

Marisa lives in West Java, Indonesia.  Besides the self-initiated yoga classes she gives, she created ProCodeCG, a programming community that organize workshops in order to introduce to children all the basic knowledge to start programming.  Marisa describes her yoga practice as “Freestyle and a little bit rebel but inspired by Ashtanga Vinyasa”. Check out the selection we made of her freestyle powerrrr:

Mother Earth in Paris & MTV Ident

Pinar&Viola – Mother Earth in Paris from Pinar&Viola on Vimeo.

Pinar&Viola – MTV IDENT – Mother Earth, Who Are You from Pinar&Viola on Vimeo.

As part of ArtCOP21, the art events surrounding the ecology summit COP21, our installation Mother Earth in Paris was shown in Gleichapel Gallery in Marais. The exhibition features an installation that unveils revamped, contemporary, environmentalist messages of peace.

Through a video installation, Mother Earth reveals her grace and wisdom on a screen surrounded by prints having elements varying from Voynich Manuscript, root vegetables, peace banners, BC cave drawings of astral travels and liquid and sensual Mother Earth. With this eclectic choice of imagery, we show that the more we are driven by technology, the more we strive for knowledge and for the recognition of the sacredness of nature.

As we recently pledged in our Artist Statement, we’ll be devoting our work in creating highly aesthetic, charismatic activisms which will offer irresistible invitations for a more truthful and humane future. Mother in Paris is the first work we created after this altruistic pledge. Hereby the thorough interview we gave to Dazed about Mother Earth.

Later on, for MTV, as their ident, we created special extracts of our Mother Earth in Paris video, with custom wisdom quotes given by the Mother Goddess, where the Mother Earth catches your gaze and asks you “Who are you when no body is watching you”.

Modern Island Nymph #summerinspiration

An impression of Friday’s Island

Friday is an Australian 62 years young lady who lives on an island in the middle of the South China Sea. Her goal is to inspire people to give the body, mind and soul more loving kindness. She enjoys the rarest kind of pristine, quiet life, relaxed and free of timetables and schedules. Friday’s rare quality lifestyle is all about ‘simplifying’, free of clothes and toxic baggage: No alcohol, no cigarettes, no clothes, no shoes, no make-up. She swims, snorkels, sun-bakes, practices daily tai chi and yoga, jogs and dances on her beach as often as she cares to. Her daily diet is one of coconuts, tropical fruits, veggies, green leaves and herbs, all right from her own garden. Friday lives like this since 27 years.

Friday lives a polyamorous lifestyle. A handful of opened-minded, healthy men have been washed to her shores. Out of these encounters, evolved several beautiful long-term polyamorous relationships. Friday calls her men ‘Robinson Lovers‘. They also finically support her to maintain Friday’s Island. Her Robinson Lovers enjoy priceless sequential nurturing time, with only the purist of intentions and respect, sharing paradise separately around 1 month each year.
